After two largely disappointing starts (sans five minutes in the Dolphins game two weeks ago), it appears some people in Denver are already calling the Tim Tebow honeymoon over.
With Tebow’s rotten performance (18-39, 172 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 56.8 rating, 1 fumble lost) in Sunday’s loss to the Lions, the Denver Post‘s Mark Kizla took to his column to absolutely shred the second-year Broncos quarterback.
Tim Tebow got thrown to the Detroit Lions on a Sunday when the Broncos were busted, 45-10. Tebow played so ineptly as to reveal a truth that his most faithful fans do not want to acknowledge.
Tebow might be a spectacular physical specimen, but he is not an NFL quarterback. […]
Those five minutes of wonder against Miami now look like an aberration. Right here, right now, Tebow is the worst quarterback in the NFL. […]
Mr. Tebow, we hate to break this news: You can’t lead if you can’t make plays. Could Brady Quinn possibly be worse?
I don’t know what people are expecting. Maybe Tim Tebow didn’t deserve to be a first-round pick, but regardless, everybody knew he would be a project quarterback. He is only in his second year. He has yet to start a full season. He’s had two different coaching staffs in those two years. His current head coach arguably hates him. So let’s cut him some slack before expecting him to be Elway.
Let me be clear: I’m certainly not a Tebow fan. His extreme openness of religion can be beyond annoying and even uncomfortable at times. And I hate the Broncos. But I just don’t like seeing guys catch an unfair break when they don’t deserve it.
Tebow will start this Sunday vs. the Raiders.
